Joining a church as a member is a joyous and momentous occasion. And at Bandana Baptist, there are three ways to become a member:
- By profession of faith and baptism. What this means is that, if you are a new believer, you automatically become a member of our church when you confess that Jesus is your Lord and Savior, and follow Him in biblical baptism.
- By church letter. You may unite with our church from another church. All we do is request your church membership letter from your original church and you become a member here upon receiving it.
- By statement of faith and baptism. If no church letter is obtainable from another church, but you have been biblically baptized and your faith is genuine, you can still join as a member.
The Process of Becoming a Member
If the Lord is leading you to unite with our church, we encourage you to speak first to our pastor or one of our deacons. And before joining, you must subscribe and commit to abide by our twelve biblically-based guidelines for membership. These guidelines outline what you can expect from us as a church and what we can expect from you as a member.
Membership Guidelines
Adopted the 7th of August, in the year of our Lord, 2024.
We, the members of Bandana Baptist Church, guided by the word of God and empowered by the grace of God, endeavor together to submit to the following biblically-based guidelines for church membership:
- We believe in Jesus Christ as our only Savior and Lord and that He is the only way of salvation (Acts 4:12).
- We believe that the Bible is the inspired and infallible word of God which equips believers for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
- We believe in the Southern Baptist Faith and Message of 1963, and that it is the best
interpretation of the doctrines of the Bible. - We believe that believers should be baptized by immersion, as outlined in the word of God (Matthew 28:16-20; Acts 8:35-39).
- We believe in “close communion,” not “closed communion,” meaning that the Lord’s Supper is open to all who are part of the universal body of Christ. Non-members are permitted to observe the Lord’s Supper, so long as they are members of Christ’s church.
- We will not forsake the assembling of ourselves together, and we will endeavor to faithfully attend and participate in all worship services, unless hindered by providence (Acts 2:42; Heb. 10:25).
- We will work and pray for the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, putting our preferences aside and other believers first (Eph. 4:1-3; Phil. 2:1-4).
- We will exercise affectionate care and watchfulness over each other and faithfully admonish and exhort one another as occasion may require (Heb. 3:12-13).
- We will submit to and participate in church discipline when necessary (Matt. 18:15-20; 1 Cor. 5:1-13; Titus 3:10).
- We will faithfully pray for one another as needs arise (James 5:13-15).
- We will faithfully support the ministry of this church as God enables us through prayer,
commitment to biblical teaching, tithes and offerings, and the exercising of spiritual gifts (Acts 2:42-47; 1 Cor. 12:4-11; 16:1-2). - We will pray for and seek the salvation of family, friends, and those who are lost in the community (Acts 1:8; Romans 10:1).
